Ayurvedic Breakfast Recipe: Classic Oatmeal

A warming breakfast for cool winter months.

Oatmeal is a warm, nourishing breakfast that supports digestion, provides steady energy, and keeps you full longer. Rich in fiber, it helps gut health, balances blood sugar, and promotes a healthy heart. Adding warming spices and fruits, like Stewed Apples, enhances its benefits and flavor.

Ingredients

  • ½ cup old fashioned rolled oats
  • 1 cup water or milk (plant based milk if preferred)
  • pinch of sea salt
  • pinch of ground cinnamon or any spices of your choice

Instructions

  • Add oats, water or milk, pinch of sea salt, and  cinnamon (or any other spices) to a pot on medium/high heat.
  • Bring mixture to a low boil, reduce heat to a low simmer and continue to cook for about 5-7 minutes. Stir occasionally.
  • When the oats have soaked up most of the liquid and are creamy, the oatmeal is ready! 
  • Optional: Add toppings of choice, such as hemp hearts, flax seeds or Stewed Apples.
